Fire!

Dear Friends,

By now most of us have heard of someone we know who has suffered loss due to the “raging fires!”

Questions abound when tragedies like Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Las Vegas and now Northern CA take place! Answers however are in short supply!

The word “fire” is mentioned 519 times in my Bible. If you would like to read a little more here is a link that you might find interesting. http://www.tentmaker.org/BreakingBread/1.html

Sometimes fire is associated with God’s judgment as when fire destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.  But it also pictures God’s presence, power, purity, truth and glory!  John the Baptist said, “but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire! Fire then is a picture of the work of the Holy Spirit.

This Sunday we will examine a passage of scripture that deals with the work of Holy Spirit as it relates to our relationship with our Lord!  I want to encourage you to read and meditate on Galatians 3:1-14.  I also encourage you to invite a friend.

We will also share how we as followers of Jesus can show “love to our neighbors” who have suffered loss!

“But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel,
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
“For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Isaiah 43:1-3

Because the Lord reigns,
