The “eyes” have it!

Dear friends,

We have 6 nays and 12 ayes, so the ayes have it – the “yes” votes win! Aye is an archaic or dialect word meaning ‘yes’ now used in standard speech when voting! Election day is almost upon us and I urge you to vote! Since coming to Valley I think we have had 6 elections? To my knowledge I have not instructed our people to vote for a particular candidate or a specific proposition.  I have said, “take your Bible into the voting booth.”  The thing is we all have different values, convictions, and beliefs – but vote!

The title of this email is, “The ‘eyes’ have it!” I do not know the last time you thanked our Creator for your eyes and perhaps you don’t either?  Now would be a good time for all of us!

You may recall these words from the lips of our Lord in Matt. 6? “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

This Sunday we will focus our eyes on Matt. 9:27-31 where Jesus heals 2 blind men who perhaps had never seen the light of day?  But they both cried out for mercy to the Son of David and their request was granted.  This week I witnessed someone who was standing up with their hands over their eyes.  I asked them, “What are you doing?”  They answered, “I am asking God for mercy.”

We all need mercy and so let us focus your eyes on the One whose vision and insight far exceeds 20/20!  Satan had blinded all our eyes until the “Light of the world” opened them.  That is called mercy!

Please join us for either our 9 am service or our 10:45 am service on the grass. You can register HERE.  For those of you who are unable to come we will be celebrating communion during our online service so if you want to join in please be prepared.  I do however hope to see you with my own eyes!

Walking in the light,

Glen
