Vaccinated?

Dear Aliens,

Vaccinated? When I was growing up, I had a friend who lived on a farm close to ours who had polio! It is not a friendly disease. If you were vaccinated, you probably do not remember it because you were too young. Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a disabling and life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. The virus can infect a person’s spinal cord, causing paralysis. Did you know that most people who get infected with poliovirus do not have symptoms? Many people who have COVID-19 do not have any symptoms either. Does that concern you?

If you were offered the vaccine for COVID today would you get the first shot? If yes is your final answer, then you must be convinced that it will protect you.

Many people who believe in heaven are convinced that they will go there! The word convinced means sure, satisfied, persuaded, and assured. But what is persuasion built on – fact, fiction, or a figment of one’s own imagination?

In our current study in 1 Peter, Peter unashamedly proclaims that faith in the person and work of Christ is man’s only hope of eternal life!  Now friends, he is either right or wrong. He does not leave any option for middle ground. Why should you and I believe him? He was an eyewitness of the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord Jesus. Yet he emphatically states in 2 Peter that there is something even more convincing – the Word of God! 2 Pet. 1:16-21

Last Sunday we were “poised together” to celebrate communion and we did. The only ground or basis for our confidence was and always will be, “the blood of Christ.”  There is no other vaccine available! Please meditate on verses 22-25 in the first chapter of Peter. Peter states in just a little different way what Jesus said to a religious pharisee, “unless you are born again you cannot enter the kingdom of God.” Friends, I hope that you know whom you have believed and are convinced that He is able to keep whatever you entrust to Him until He returns!

Beyond a shadow of a doubt,
Glen
