PETRA/THURSDAY SCHOOL BEGINS SEPTEMBER 8, 2016
9:15 – 11:30 AM
To enable homeschooling moms to attend the Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study by providing their children with a Christ-Centered academic program focusing on World History. We strive to provide a creative learning environment using group projects, public speaking, physical education and many other unique learning opportunities throughout the year.
Meanwhile, homeschooling mothers receive solid Bible teaching and are able to enjoy lively and challenging discussions with women of all ages. Mothers are asked to commit to faithful Bible Study attendance or full time Thursday morning ministry.
PETRA was begun over 30 years ago by two homeschooling moms who wanted to attend the Thursday morning Women’s Bible Study. They hired a young woman to teach their children on campus while they had a time of spiritual nourishment.
Over the years, PETRA has grown dramatically. Today we offer 1st – 9th grade classes. Our 1st – 9th grade program follows a chronological format, emphasizing a different period of history every year. The current cycle includes Old Testament and Ancient History, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation & Exploration, and Modern History studies (Early Modern 1550-1850 and Modern 1850-present day).
For children ages 3 months through 5 years old (Kindergarten), we offer THURSDAY SCHOOL, a program similar to Sunday School. They’ll learn Bible stories, memorize Scripture and participate in lots of hands-on activities. Thursday School is currently full, with a waitlist.
All of our teachers have a great heart for children and love to serve the Lord through teaching. We are eager to share Christ with your children through the adventure of world history.
