Doumer Liu

Doumer is the oldest son to Julian and Nancy Liu.  He has an older sister, Irene Trapp in San Jose, CA and a younger brother Jim Liu in American Fork, UT.  The Liu family lived in Sunnyvale and has attended Valley Church since around 1960.  Julian served as an usher for many years until his death in 1986.  Nancy served in women’s ministries before she followed Julian in death in 2018.

Doumer has served in numerous ministries at Valley Church in his young adult years as a High School Associate, Intern Pastor, a singer in choirs, an ensemble called Wellspring, a men’s quartet called The Brethren, high school worship leader, sanctuary worship leader, sound technician, deacon (multiple terms), intern elder (in the early 2000’s) and presently an intern elder in 2021.

Doumer and his wife, Barb, have been married since 1984 and have raised 4 boys.  They are Timothy Liu, Aaron Liu, Andrew Liu and Caleb Liu.  Tim and his wife, Mia, have two young children, Caden and Penelope.  Aaron is married to Megan and lives in Colorado.  Andrew lives in San Diego and works as a mechanical engineer.  Caleb is a recent college graduate and currently works in educational services.

After 20+ years in the technology sector, Doumer left the industry to pursue a career in education.  Launching a small business as a math tutor, he also went back to school to obtain a master’s degree in teaching mathematics and has been working as a high school math teacher for Prospect High School in Saratoga, CA.

In recent years Doumer has worked closely with Daniel Kim in the music ministries and has participated in leading worship from the pulpit at Valley Church and on pre-recorded services during pandemic times.
