White Knuckles

Dear Travelers,

I just got back from a quick trip to LA and back, and I can tell you driving in So Cal is different than Nor Cal. In my experience, people are just plain crazy down there! Add to that way too many cars, driving way too fast, with WAY too much rain coming down!!! I was definitely driving with white knuckles – not to mention my passengers!  J

Two Sundays ago we learned about the “path” of a disciple of Jesus from the book of Philippians. As we “journey” through this book we’re going to see that the road for following Christ is NOT an easy one. No, it’s not full of crazy drivers – in fact Jesus said in Matt 7:14 “…the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Having a map (or an app) to follow makes things easier. Here is a link to the illustration for the introduction/overview video of the book of Philippians I showed a couple of weeks ago – https://thebibleproject.com/product/philippians-poster/. (I’ve printed a few up if you want to grab one from me on Sunday.) You can also watch the video again at https://thebibleproject.com; look up the book of Philippians.

Finally, how many of you have ever had to navigate directions while driving in a different country with road signs in a different language?  Valley Church is hosting Multicultural Training classes again in 2017 to help you learn how to reach out to people around you. Starting on Friday 1/13, at 8 PM, Juno Wang will start our series with her experiences in intercultural community outreaches in the neighborhoods around Valley Church. She’s had experience with people from all over the world, most of whom don’t know Christ. Come and bring a friend.

On the road together,

Kurt
