Do you know what I know?

Dearly Beloved,

Do you know what I know? You probably know more than I know, but perhaps you do not know how many kinds of bread there are in the world? Let me state as a fact that there are a ton! The goggle site that I checked on lists around 200 complete with pictures. Below are 4 and just a sample from breads that start with the letter B! Have you tried any of these?

Bammy – Made by frying a mix of Cassava root and salt in coconut oil, dipped in coconut milk and then refried (Jamaica)

Bhakri – Usually grayish in color, made of cereals and thus high in protein and fiber like Jowar, Bajra or Maize (India and Pakistan)

Bublik – Made from yeast-leavened wheat dough that commonly contains milk, butter, and egg whites and is rather sweet (Poland)

Borodinsky – A dark brown sourdough rye bread, traditionally sweetened with molasses and flavored with coriander and caraway seeds (Russia)

For 40 years Yahweh fed between 1 million to 3 million (601,730 men alone) of His chosen people with “bread from heaven” every day without fail. Talk about the faithful provision of God!

Bethlehem was called the “House of Bread” and thus it is only fitting that Jesus, “The Bread of Life” should be born there. This Sunday we will close out our series on, “Who do people say that I am?” and we will focus on John 6 where Jesus declares a number of times that He is “The Bread that comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world.” I hope that you will meditate on John 6 and join us this Sunday at 10:45 am for Church on the Grass.

Merry Christmas,
Glen
