A Christmas Blessing!

Dearly Beloved,

Merry Christmas! I hope you have not only a special Christmas but a “blessed Christmas.” I can assure you that it can become reality for you, as I have it on good authority, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy and heeds the things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Rev. 1:3

Reading, hearing and heeding are prerequisites to being blessed by God, according to the beloved disciple John. Many people miss out because they neglect this last book in the Bible. Unfortunately, this is a typical attitude towards Revelation. Many people believe that only fanatics wade deep into this book, but honestly it is a book for anyone who wants to be blessed.

Did you know that the book of Revelation is rooted in the Old Testament? According to one commentary, it contains more than 500 allusions to the Old Testament and 278 of the 404 verses in Revelation (that is almost 70%) make some reference to the Old Testament.

As we gather together this Christmas Sunday at Valley Church, we will look at what the Lord Jesus had to say to the Laodicean church. You may think it rather strange to examine Rev. 3:14-22 on Christmas but I think you will be quite surprised how relevant it is to your heart and mine!

We are still in need of some help, and if you would click on this link you will discover how you can help us “host” our guests. Speaking of guests, please invite family, friends and neighbors.
I have passed out a bunch of our cards for “Morningtide” and “Starry Night.”

Because He has made me glad,
Glen (Darren wanted me to add this below for our Christmas Eve service)

Hi all,

Just a quick reminder about “Starry Night” on Christmas Eve from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Plans are coming together! Thanks for volunteering so others can see the glory of the King. We can still use some help. We need:

•          Cookie bakers
•          Light stringers
•          Craft helpers
•          Greeters
•          Book table attendants

If you can serve, please click on this link.

Also, please stop by “The Story” book table this Sunday if you need Christmas gifts. Both “The Story” (the main book for adults) and “The Story for Children” are beautiful gifts that God can use in the lives of others.

Rejoicing exceedingly (Matt. 2:10),
Darren
