Happy New Year,
The Lord of heaven and earth does not pull any punches! You may not be familiar with that phrase, but it means “to behave unrestrainedly, holding nothing back.” This expression comes from boxing, where to pull one’s punches means “to hit less hard than one can.”
We find ourselves in the 17th chapter of The Story entitled, “The Kingdom’s Fall.” It depicts the tragic consequences when Yahweh’s chosen people walk in open rebellion against Him and His Divine instructions. Jeremiah and Ezekiel take center stage, and believe me when I say, they “pulled no punches.”
We all remember 9/11 when, “Towers fell, and people perished.” What happens when kingdom’s fall? Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet and for good reason. His ministry spanned around 40 years and he was never treated like a celebrity. Rather, he found himself in pits and prisons.
Friends, our world is teetering on the brink of destruction. I am not a prophet or the son of one, but if you want to be comfortable come Sunday morning then I suggest you stay home and snuggle up with a nice warm blanket on your couch! That, however, is not my prayer for you or for me!
I just received this email from Marilyn Gifford:
“Please be in prayer for our Global Partner team Robin and Teri Cook in Colorado Springs. Teri wrote that her husband, Robin, will have surgery tomorrow (Wed. Dec. 29 at 7 a.m.) as a 4-inch mass was found in his left kidney. One prayer request is that the mass would be contained. More will be known after the biopsy. Pray for the surgical team and nurses who care for Robin.”
Psalm 16: 8 “I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
My title is, “When Kingdoms Fall and People Perish.” If you have a copy of The Story, please read chapter 17! I am hoping to see you on this the 1st Sunday of the year as we worship our risen Lord. His gospel is a serious message because it is a message of life and death. Let us prepare ourselves for what 2022 holds by seeking Him and His kingdom first!
In the hands of the only Champion,
