Dear Beloved,
How secure are you in your relationship with the Creator of the universe, the Savior of the world, and the One who has the keys to death and hades? How well do you know Him and how often do you communicate with Him?
Those questions are not trivial. We come to John chapter 10 this week where Jesus stated that He has come (incarnation) that you and I may have life (eternal) and have it more abundantly. John 10 contains the only parable that is recorded in the gospel of John. Jesus in this chapter makes two more claims regarding His deity.
- I am the door of the sheep. (John 10:7, 9)
- I am the good Shepherd. (John 10:11)
What do you see in this picture? Do you see yourself? You should if you say you believe the Bible to be the Word of God. Psalm 95:6-8 says, “Come, let’s worship and bow down, let’s kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as at Meribah.”
I hope that you will come this Sunday and that our “Good Shepherd” would speak to all our hearts. He has a strong passion and a great desire to reveal Himself to His sheep. We will spend some time beholding our good, great, and chief Shepherd. I want to invite you to come early and listen to our prelude. The Li sisters, back home on break from college (UCLA) wanted a challenge and something to do as service. Dian Ruder has been working with them for a week and a half to master a very nice arrangement of “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” It has a contemporary flair to it. I think they have put at least 9 hours into practicing. I think it will be a blessing!
