Rerouting…

Today I was driving south on 101, deep in thought, and missed my turn, despite the Google maps warnings. What came next is something everyone dreads… the words “Rerouting” showed up on my screen. I knew I was about to be given an alternate route to my destination that would make my journey longer due to my missed turn.

But what if you STARTED your trip on Google maps and the only thing showing was “Rerouting… rerouting…”? The Bible tells us that Abraham was called to go on a journey with God and left, “…not knowing where he was going.” God told him to go without giving him any assurances as to where his destination was, how he would get there, or how long it would take.

Yet throughout the Bible Abraham is a considered model of what a life of faith is supposed to look like. What can we learn from the life of Abraham when we get “rerouted”? This Sunday we’ll look at Hebrews 11:8-10 as another example of the “Extraordinary Hope” that is available when we live our lives by faith in God.

See you Sunday! (Unless I get “rerouted” on the way!)
