Hey Joe

It didn’t matter if it was in the heart of metro Manila or out in the jungles of Northern Luzon, as an American missionary in the Philippines, I knew I could always count on hearing “Hey Joe”, at least once a day. Due to the high numbers of American military personnel in the country after World War II, many Filipinos learned this phrase, generally thought of as a friendly way of greeting GI Joes.

For the next two Sundays of Advent, we’re continuing our “Extraordinary Hope” series with a New Testament focus by looking at the extraordinary faith of two teenagers – Joseph and Mary. Read ahead in Matt. 1:1-25 and picture yourself in Joseph’s shoes. We’ll see at least three separate times he hears, “Hey Joe…”

In Christ,
Kurt
