Living out and giving out grace

On August 25, 2014, 39-year-old Charles Vacca was accidentally shot and killed by a nine-year-old girl while instructing her how to shoot at a licensed gun range in White Hills, Arizona. Whatever you believe about guns and gun control, everyone knows this was a tragic accident. Imagine the burden that this little girl will feel the rest of her life. Imagine the heartache the Vacca family will never get over.

But in an amazing display of grace, Vacca’s children said, “We really do want the prayers to be going out to the family of the little girl. Our thoughts and our prayers are with them. We don’t want their lives to revolve around this. We forgive you. We pray for you.”

What keeps us from LIVING out grace for ourselves and GIVING out grace to others? David Seamands, a professional counselor summed up his career this way: “the two major causes of emotional conflict among evangelical Christians are these: the failure to understand, receive, and LIVE out God’s unconditional grace and forgiveness; and the failure to GIVE out that unconditional love, forgiveness, and grace to other people.”

Ephesians 2:1-6 deals directly with two errors that keep us from both living out and giving out grace. Come on Sunday as we learn the truth from God’s Word about just how amazing grace really is. I’ll look forward to seeing you there.

Because of Christ,
Kurt
