How many of you are fond of spiders? Don’t all raise your hands at once! Some people are so fearful of them that they scream everytime they see one. Ok, there are some posionous ones but have you ever wondered why God created them?
Spiders provide numerous benefits to the ecosystem and even to human activities. They play a crucial role in controlling insect populations, acting as natural pest controllers by preying on various bugs, mosquitoes, and agricultural pests, which helps reduce the need for chemical pesticides. Their webs also contribute to scientific advancements; the silk produced by spiders is incredibly strong and flexible, inspiring innovations in materials science and engineering. Their presence indicates a healthy environment, making them vital to both natural ecosystems and human interests.
To be honest most of us know very little about spiders. For example do you know that studies have shown that you’re never more than ten feet away from a spider and that there are over 1 million spiders on every acre of land. There are also more than 30,000 different spieces of spiders in the world but the US only has about 3,000 – aren’t you glad.
Glen, where are you going with this? My title for this Sunday is “The Divine Web – Embracing God’s Guidance.” The most frequent question that I have been asked over the years by young people is, “What is God’s will for my life?” You may be asking yourself that question today!
The answer to that question is not some simple little formula. A spider’s web is complex and intricately woven, with many interconnected strands. Each part of the web is essential for its overall structure and function. Similarly, God’s will for our lives is multifaceted and interconnected. Our decisions, circumstances, and the people we encounter all play a role in the larger tapestry of God’s plan.
We all need the grace of God to do the will of God! I hope this Sunday to unravel some of the mystery as it relates to God’s guidance and preparing us for the “good works that He has prepared for us to walk in.”
