Dear Friends,
I have 2 questions for you! “Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?” (Job 11:7) Can you? My answer, “I am just scratching the surface.”
Here is another question, “Are you able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and do you know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge?” Eph. 3:18-19
I think I am in kindergarten in trying to comprehend the love of God. However, it is my passion “to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Phil. 3:10
Here are 4 questions:
- Is hell real?
- Is hell eternal?
- Is hell necessary?
- Is hell symbolic or literal?
This Sunday we return to our study of the parables found in the gospel of Luke. We will examine the parable in Luke 16:19-31. It is about the rich man and Lazurus and it deals with two lives on earth and two destinies beyond death!
Take the time to read and meditate upon this parable as it confronts us with the sobering reality of eternity. Yes, God is loving and kind, but His love is not permissive or indifferent to sin. The cross of Christ demonstrates both His love (in offering forgiveness) and His justice (in punishing sin). The Rich Man and Lazarus is a needed warning for all of us in today’s culture—a call to take God’s Word, His invitation to salvation, and the reality of eternity seriously.
Because hell is not a myth and life is not a game,
Glen
P.S. I want to encourage you to consider attending Jaime Burnett’s “The Bible and the End Times” class beginning Jan. 12 at 9:30 am in the Campus Center.
