Let’s celebrate the world’s King

Hey Church Family,

Starry Night weather update

This just in – a little change in plans. Because of the weather, we’ll move the “program” part of Starry Night (starting at 5:00 PM) inside the Worship Center. As for the activities starting at 4:00 PM, we’ll be outside under the stars (children’s crafts, cookies and hot drinks, “snow ball fight”).

We had a wonderful Christmas service last Sunday (Morningtide) with tasty pancakes and a craft. Even the sun broke through after half way through the service. Here’s a view from inside:

We’ve probably never had a father-daughter, mother-daughter worship team before.

More on Starry Night

I was just sitting at Louise’s desk munching on some very tasty Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Cashews that I got for Christmas from friends at Valley. (I probably was supposed to carry them home and share, but I couldn’t restrain myself.) I like the view from Louise’s desk. She’s very organized and I get inspiration for also having a neat and tidy work space. Too bad the inspiration fades by the time I walk the 15 steps back to my own desk. Check out the lantern.

I’m giving myself a head start on estimating the number of chocolate candies in the lantern. When you arrive at 4 PM, stop by the lantern table and make a guess. The winner will take the lantern home.

We really hope that you come out and celebrate the King’s birthday with your church family. Again, we’ll have Christmas cookies, hot drinks, crafts, music and words to lift your hearts and the hearts of those you invite. Honestly, the best decoration is you. Please come and be on mission to encourage and connect with as many different people you can. Like I mentioned above, we’ll move inside at 5:00 PM to continue the festivities.

This Sunday Morning – Dec. 26

Here’s a view from Max’s desk – as you can see, I’m creeping around the office.

His desk gets an “A” also. It’s not quite as neat as Louise’s (he had a stray pushpin on his desk — it’s covered up by the book) but all in all, up to code. By the way, do you know this famous book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst? It’s a classic children’s story. Someone made a movie version but I don’t know if its any good. Well, this Sunday we’re talking about King Hezekiah and his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. It’s a day that turned around 180 degrees, but I want to leave you in suspense.

We learn about him in Chapter 16 of The Story. He did a good job as King of Judah and his story will be a nice contrast to some of the other not-so-hot kings of Israel and Judah. Funny thing about him, life got harder when he did the right thing.

This is a family service and so bring your kids and sit up close. We’ll have a King Hezekiah coloring page for them and I’ll try to encourage them in particular.

OK, see you in 24 hours!

For King Jesus,
Darren
