Jesus’ Resolution to Die

Dear Worshippers,

Jesus’ resolution to die was not some whimsical decision that He made on the spur of the moment. On the contrary, it was foretold by the prophets and thus a necessity. Doctor Luke put it this way, “As the time approached for Him (Jesus) to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” He told His disciples that He had one goal in mind after Peter declared that He was the Christ, the Son of the living God, in Matthew 16. “From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.” Luke 9:41

The cross was not some random idea in the mind of some Jewish Rabbi named Jesus, it was pre-planned before the foundation of the earth.

This Sunday is Palm Sunday and marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem prophesied by Zechariah centuries earlier:

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is He, humble and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off, and He shall command peace to the nations; His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.” Zechariah 9:9-10

Are you living victoriously in His victory? Are you experiencing Jesus’ promised peace? Are you fixing your eyes on the author and perfector of faith? These are three questions worth contemplating in this fallen evil world.

My title for this Sunday’s message is, “King Jesus’ favorite place on planet earth!”  Is it Silicon Valley?

Because He lives,

P.S. Darren wanted me to include this in our weekly communication with you:
