Worthy of Every Song We Could Ever Sing

Dear Valley Church Family,

This summer our high school and middle school ministries took 58 students to Hume Lake Summer Camp from July 6-12.  Hume hosts over 1000 high schoolers and more than 300 middle schoolers each week throughout the summer, and on our final night there, we stood outside under the stars for worship.  Being under the night sky with that many students lifting up their voices to praise God was an unforgettable experience.

In the middle of worship, I caught myself pausing to look up and take in God’s incredible creation.  Psalm 33 says, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host.”  God’s very breath formed the vastness of the universe—the billions of stars and galaxies that stretch across space, seemingly without end.  And as I stood in awe of His creation, hearing the voices of students singing all around me, I was struck with this truth: the Creator of that universe also handcrafted the life of every student there that night. He personally knit each one together in their mother’s womb. Each one, fearfully and wonderfully made.

This Sunday, we’ll be talking about worship: three compelling reasons from Psalm 33 for why God is worthy of every song we could ever sing to praise Him. And we’ll respond in song together (including Before the Throne of God Above and Build My Life) as a declaration that the gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s love is our foundation and our joy.

Excited to see you Sunday!

In Christ,
John Mack
