A disciple of Jesus is someone who learns from Him, to live for Him, and become like Him. A disciple is a worshiper, a servant and a witness. How do we grow in these ways?
We come to be and grow as disciples of Jesus in stages. Others witness about their faith to us. The Holy Spirit draws us. We become believers. We seek to know more through Bible study, meeting with others in groups to learn, love, and serve.
One-on-one discipleship is a mentoring relationship that provides a trusting, confidential relationship where you can be transparent about areas you would like to grow spiritually. This is the type of relationship where you could get encouraging not judging support in developing the fruits of the Spirit to become more like Jesus.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)
