Dear friends,
Happy 4th of July 2 days early! If you listen to all that we are bombarded with in our IT world then perhaps you are not celebrating what is going on in our nation?
If I were to take you back to when the prophet Hosea spoke to God’s people you probably would have a very difficult time believing that God was about to bring judgment on His people? During the reign of Jeroboam, the 2nd Israel enjoyed prosperity. Economically and politically they were well off and although they had made many unhealthy relationships with other nations they were at the height of their prominence.
But judgment was staring them down like a freight train in a dark tunnel. So, God uses a vivid illustration hoping that His chosen people will pay attention to Hosea’s words. He asks Hosea to do the unthinkable:
“Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for the land commits flagrant harlotry, forsaking the Lord.” Hosea 1:2
Do you see the depth of God’s passion to confront God’s people with their idolatry and spiritual adultery? We will explore it this Sunday as we look at Hosea. Please take the time to listen to this video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE6SZ1ogOVU
It will give you an overview of Hosea and help you understand the big picture of the book. Please take some time and read it out loud! Yes, there are 14 chapters but today is Monday so if you read 3 chapters a day you will finish in 5 days.
Celebrating our dependence on Jesus,
Glen
