No Escape!

Dear friends, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQLazbgz90c (Please watch before Sunday)

Are you fond of insects? If so which one’s? I bet you didn’t know this bit of trivia:

“It has long been recognized and documented that insects are the most diverse group of organisms, meaning that the numbers of species of insects are more than any other group. In the world, some 900 thousand different kinds of living insects are known. This representation approximates 80 percent of the world’s species.”

Do you know the top 2 insects in the world?

#1 – Beetles –  The largest group of insects on Earth is called Coleoptera, or beetles …. 350,000 different kinds

#2 – Flies – The second largest group of insects on the planet is called Diptera, or flies. …

What about insects in the Bible?  Perhaps the best known historical account is the “locust plague” which is the 8th of the 10 plagues in Egypt. This Sunday in our summer series on, “A Majestic View of the Minor Prophets” we will see in Joel:

  • The swarming locust
  • The creeping locust
  • The stripping locust

Locusts were used by God to judge His people during Joel’s day and a large invasion took place sometime between 835-796 BC.  There was “no escape” from their devastation upon the land. Joel depicts another inescapable day called, “The Day of the Lord” and it is mentioned 7 times in his short 3 little chapters.

There will be “no escape for followers of Jesus because the Bible is crystal clear, “We must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”

Here is the ultimate question from Joel, “Are you and I prepared for the, “Day of the Lord?” For judgment day?  The operative word is – “prepared!” I hope you can join us this Sunday and take 10 minutes and read the book of Joel our loud.  Perhaps in a small way it will prepare you for that, “Inevitable Day?”

Because He is coming again,
