Conflict and COVID

Dear Soldiers,

I just read this headline a half hour ago, “Ukrainians from all walks of life answer the call, take up arms against Russia.” No Ukrainian male between 16-60 is allowed to leave their country! To say that Ukrainians are in a life and death battle is an understatement. Men, women, and children are dying.

Do you consider yourself to be a soldier in our Lord’s army? Honestly? Is there enough proof? The Bible emphatically states in 2 Tim. 2:4, “No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.”

Friends, we are active soldiers who should always be on the front line as well as behind enemy lines. Those behind enemy lines are often wounded and sometimes they die!

Our focus verse this week is 2 Corinthians 4:8, “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed.” The affliction that Paul experienced was entirely because he preached Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” You and I will never experience the same affliction that Paul was talking about if we are closet Jesus followers – if in fact there is such a thing.

On another note, as of March 1, 2022, the County of Santa Clara no longer requires the wearing of a face covering for any person while indoors. We will still ask all involved in our ministries to children and teens to wear a face covering until the universal masking requirement for K-12 and Childcare settings terminates on March 11.

Some are still concerned about the safety of meeting together indoors. We understand and will continue to provide our worship service outdoors on the grass (for the time being) as well as livestream our service. You can find the livestream of our worship service on our church’s Sunday worship service webpage: https://valleychurch.org/v/sunday-worship-service/ or our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/valleychurchca.

Thank you for patience and prayers during these trying times. God bless you!

Because life is not a game,
Glen
