War On the Home Front?

Dear Soldiers,

If we do not think that the evil forces of darkness have targeted the family, we all have our heads in the sand, and have lost touch with reality! Strategically launched missiles and drones are destroying the foundation and fabric of our nation! The traditional definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman has been redefined in our society. These changes have led to confusion about the roles and responsibilities.

The high rates of divorce, single-parent households, and absentee fathers contribute to a sizable number of children growing up without a father figure. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 18.3 million children, or 1 in 4, live without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home. Children from single-parent families are twice as likely to suffer from mental health and behavioral problems as those living with married parents. In one study, 70% of youth in state operated facilities were from single-parent homes.

Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day, proposed by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909 because she wanted to honor her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran, and a single father who raised six children on his own. The first official Father’s Day was June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington, where Sonora Smart Dodd lived.

We will be in Deut. 6:1-10 so I encourage you to read it before Sunday. Father’s Day is more than just a celebration; it is a reminder of the vital role fathers play in the spiritual and overall well-being of their families. As society passionately challenges traditional family values, it becomes even more crucial for Christian fathers to step up and fulfill their biblical roles, loving the Lord passionately, and leading their families diligently.

Our Father knows best,
Glen
