Dearly Beloved,
The LORD is my Shepherd! Can you honestly say He is? When is the last time you experienced His guidance, sensed His presence, and felt His love? Today, yesterday, a week ago, or does it seem like
an eternity?
This Sunday we come to the 11th chapter in, “The Story.” It is entitled, “From Shepherd to King!” The life of David is from 1 Samuel 16 though the book of 1 Chronicles. We will cover his life in 2 weeks – go figure! Do you know the meaning of his name? It means “beloved.”
If you have never read 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, or read the Psalms, then you have missed out! David’s name appears in God’s Word more than any other name. Around three times more than Abraham, more than Moses and more than Jesus Christ. In the NASB, David’s name is mentioned 986 times. Peter, when he preached on the day of Pentecost, mentions David 3 times.
David is a huge part of “God’s Story” and may I kindly remind you that the One seated at the right hand of the Father is from the line of King David. “The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” Matthew 1:1
I hope that you will join us and consider inviting a friend or a neighbor. The reason is because without Christ they have zero hope! Thanksgiving and Christmas often bring back memories, whether good or bad. Let us pray that the “Good, Great and Chief Shepherd” would open the hearts of the lost in Silicon Valley!
Today we celebrate “Veteran’s Day.” “Armistice Day” was started in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I. In 1928, Congress passed a resolution to make an annual observance and November 11 became the official date for the observance and a National Holiday. Thank you, veterans!
Thankfully,
Glen
