When God’s Answer is “Not Yet”

Can you think of a time of prolonged waiting in your life? I recently went to the DMV and it seemed like it took FOREVER. On a more serious note, maybe you were waiting to hear back on a college application, or a job interview, or results from a medical test. Sometimes it seems like the answer “wait” is harder to accept than “Yes” or “No.” There are feelings of uncertainty, questions about what’s next, and maybe doubts about what got you there in the first place.

This Sunday we’ll look at how to live by faith in the midst of waiting…Hebrews 11:39 lets us know that the “heroes” of the faith we’ve been talking about for these last several months had to wait! And while many of them received parts of what was promised to them, they didn’t get it all… not yet at least! Remember, one of the strong messages we’ve gotten in this chapter is “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” (Heb. 10:36)

As we do at the end of every month, we’ll also celebrate communion. Please be prepared to examine your heart and meet with the Lord in a special time of remembrance, reflection, and celebration. Alex Auer and Jaime Burnett will give us an annual update from the elder board as they do every year at this time.

In Christ,
Kurt Jones

P.S. Men, don’t forget about breakfast this Saturday at 8 am. If you haven’t signed up yet, please come anyway. (Glen told me you can have his breakfast!) Also, we’ll celebrate the life of Don Gottwals on Saturday at 2pm at Valley Church.
