Petra / Thursday School

Our Mission
To enable homeschooling mothers to attend the Thursday morning Women’s Bible Study by providing their children with a Christ-centered academic program focusing on history. We strive to provide a creative learning environment through group projects, public speaking, physical education, and many other unique learning opportunities throughout the year.

Meanwhile, homeschooling mothers receive solid Bible teaching and enjoy lively and challenging discussions with women of all ages. Mothers are asked to commit to faithful attendance at the Bible Study if not serving consistently at PETRA/Thursday school.

Our Background
Over the years, PETRA has grown dramatically. Today we offer 1st – 9th grade classes on Thursdays from 9:30 am – 11:45 am. This year we will be studying the history of the Eastern Hemisphere. In addition to history, the students will also participate in physical education, develop in Christian character, and practice public speaking. Character development will be taught by studying Christian apologetics. Public speaking practice within the classroom will also be incorporated. In the spring, students will have the opportunity to participate in cooking day, an event many students look forward to.

For children, infants through Kindergarten, we offer THURSDAY SCHOOL, a program similar to Sunday School. Children learn Bible stories, memorize Scripture, and participate in many hands-on activities.

All of our teachers have a great heart for children and love to serve the Lord through teaching. We are eager to share Christ with your children through the adventure of history!
