Please bask in the light with us!
What is Tent Fest? A celebration for our entire church family and neighbors with food, lights, crafts, games, photobooth, Jewish dancing and other activities.
What’s the name all about? Tent Fest is inspired by the ancient Feast of Tabernacles. God commanded his people to remember his presence and generous love during their 40 years in the desert by having an annual festival around harvest time. The Israelites would live in “booths” (little tents) for seven days and “rejoice before the LORD” (Lev. 23:40, 42). Jesus himself celebrated this festival. And during his ministry in the first century, the Jewish priests lit up huge candelabras or lamps in the temple area. It’s likely that during this lighting ceremony Jesus made his own famous statement.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
